Understanding privacy and storage
Coral keeps ordinary document work local and uses the network only for named boundaries.
What stays local
Documents, recovery data, workspace sizing, preferences, and an explicitly enabled transcript archive stay in this browser or in files you save. Transcript persistence is off by default and has bounded retention and deletion controls.
What can leave the device
AI generation requires a network connection. It does not work offline. A provider request contains the captured source, diagnostics, and prompt needed for the explicit request. Coral does not upload a diagram merely because it is open.
Voice input requires a network connection when the Whisper model loads. Voice processing remains local after the model loads for that session. Browser speech recognition follows the browser provider's network behavior.
Credentials and clearing data
API-key persistence is an explicit opt-in and stores the key as plain text in browser local storage. Clearing site data removes Coral recovery data, settings, persisted credentials, transcript archives, and cached Whisper assets.
